Vineyard Montessori Receives 5x the Applications for Enrollment; Plus a near Half a Million Dollar Grant

Vineyard Montessori head of school, Deborah Jernegan, says they have received 76 applications for admission for the 2020-2021 school year. This was a big jump in applications from their usual 14. They had to close their waiting list this year, however, future changes will help them serve more students. Vineyard Montessori is planning to expand its current toddler and pre-k program. This expansion has been made possible by their fortune in being awarded just shy of a half a million dollars grant from a local group called MVYouth!

MVYouth, of Martha’s Vineyard is an organization, that seeks to provide financial support to exemplary educational organizations on the Island. They also offer many different types of scholarships for teens. When MVYouth identified an early childhood educational program gap, they decided to do something about it. This award seems to have come at just the right time. These grant funds will allow Vineyard Montessori to meet the ever-expanding interests in Montessori Education.
