Meghan Anson’s study is titled Integrating Trauma-Informed Practices in Montessori Education: An Interpretive Study of Educator Experience
Anson aims to interview credentialed Early Childhood and Elementary teachers. Her request letter is below for those interested.
“Dear Montessori Educator,
My name is Meghan Anson, and I am a doctoral candidate at the University of Wisconsin–River Falls. I am conducting a qualitative research study examining how Montessori educators understand, recognize, and implement trauma-informed practices in classrooms serving children ages 3–12.
The study is titled: Integrating Trauma-Informed Practices in Montessori Education: An Interpretive Study of Educator Experience
As part of the recruitment process, I invite you to complete a brief online survey. The survey is used to gather background information and to support the selection of a diverse group of Montessori educators for possible follow-up interviews. Survey responses are de-identified and will be used for research purposes only.
IRB Number: IRB-FY2025-90
Eligibility Criteria
To participate, you must:
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Be a credentialed Montessori educator (AMI, AMS, or MACTE-affiliated)
- Currently work with, or have previously worked with, children ages 3–12 in a Montessori setting
What to Expect
- Complete a brief demographic survey via Qualtrics
- Indicate whether you are willing to be contacted for a follow-up interview
- If selected, participate in a one-on-one semi-structured virtual interview (approximately 45–60 minutes, conducted via Zoom or Microsoft Teams)
Participation is entirely voluntary. You may skip any question or discontinue participation at any time without penalty.
To participate in the survey, please review this informed consent form, which provides detailed information about the study, including participation requirements, risks, benefits, and confidentiality protections. The link to the survey is at the end of the consent form.
Important Note:
Because this study involves discussion of trauma-informed education, individuals who are currently experiencing trauma or believe participation may cause emotional distress are encouraged to refrain from participating at this time, to prioritize personal well-being.
Your participation may contribute to a deeper understanding of how trauma-informed practices are recognized and enacted within Montessori education and may help inform future teacher preparation, professional development, and educational support for trauma-affected students.
