Montessorian, Author Hosts European Pilgrimage

January 29, 2025 by Rachel Kincaid 2 Comments

IMC Director of Accreditation Sheila Linville announces details

“Gernot Candolini has served as Head of School for Montessori Innsbruck, is a professor at the University of Innsbruck, and, most interestingly, a builder of labyrinths and retreat leader.

“Each year, he leads numerous groups to Chartres, a historic French town famed for its breathtaking Gothic architecture and the world-renowned Cathedral of Chartres. The cathedral is particularly celebrated for its intricate stained glass and the labyrinth embedded in its stone floor, a tool for meditation and reflection.

“Gernot is so passionate about this labyrinth that he has authored several books, including Labyrinths – Walking Toward the Center and Places of Light: The Gift of Cathedrals to the World. As an engaging storyteller and expert guide, he brings this site’s rich history and symbolism to life through these Pilgrimages.

“This is your invitation to his summer Pilgrimage, which will take place from June 22nd – 27th, 2026 in Chartres, France! The pilgrimage will focus on the connection between Montessori Education and the spirituality of the child and school leader through architecture, the labyrinth experience, storytelling, and the experiences of fellow Montessorians. Enrollment is now open for 2026, and there are 24 spots available. This will allow you to travel with like-minded colleagues in this wonderful venue.

“If you are interested in joining this Pilgrimage please contact  Sheila M. Linville –Instructional Guide – slinville@cgms.edu“
