Upper Elementary Co-Lead Teacher

This is a 10-month, full-time position that boasts comprehensive benefits and a salary commensurate with experience. Must have Montessori certification from AMS or a MACTE-accredited institute for the 9-12 Elementary Level. 

Position Summary:

  • Skillfully delivers the Montessori Elementary II curriculum as defined by American Montessori Society;
  • Regularly completes student observations and online record-keeping for each child;
  • Works in partnership with the co-lead to ensure he/she is contributing to the peaceful, prepared environment which is conducive to high-level, developmentally appropriate learning that supports the executive function skills of each child;
  • Conducts parent meetings and writes meaningful reports twice annually and as needed;
  • Works with other members of the Elementary Department and Senior Leadership to ensure continuity of curriculum and communication;
  • Engages children in peaceful, effective positive behavior support;
  • Reads and abides by the policies and procedures of Gladwyne Montessori; and,
  • Assists in duties beyond the classroom as requested by Head of School.
  • Must be able to:
    • lift up to 35 pounds;
    • sit comfortably on the floor with children;
    • bend, squat, kneel with ease; and,
    • move and organize classroom tables and chairs, move about the building as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a minimum of three years experience working with children in a Montessori environment and at least one of those years working as a Montessori classroom head teacher;

  • Must have Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education or related discipline;

  • Must demonstrate cultural competency;

  • Must have knowledge of minimum standards, health and safety practices, social and emotional development and classroom management;

  • Must be reliable, flexible, positive, patient, warm and enthusiastic about working as part of a team of adults and engaging with families;

  • Must relate joyfully with children; and,

  • Must pass all required clearances (PA Child Abuse, Pennsylvania Access to Criminal History, Federal Criminal History Background Check)

Teaching Assistant

This is a 10-month, full time position that boasts comprehensive benefits and a salary commensurate with experience.

Position Summary:

  • Maintains a clean and orderly classroom as directed by the Head teacher that aligns with the Montessori philosophy
  • Maintains a safe and stimulating environment for the children that aligns with the Montessori philosophy
  • Assists children with all physical needs to be safe and clean in a respectful manner
  • Maintains, prepares or makes materials and environment as requested by the teacher
  • Participates in school functions and evening events as requested by Head of School
  • Assists in duties beyond the classroom as requested by Head of School
  • Assists all children who need guidance and direction in hallways, playgrounds and changing of classes or programs
  • Reads and abides by the policies and procedures of Gladwyne Montessori School
  • Engages children in peaceful, effective positive behavior support
  • Must be able to:
    • lift up to 35 pounds
    • sit comfortably on the floor with children and on low chairs
    • bend, squat, kneel with ease
    • Move and organize classroom tables and chairs, move about the building as needed

  • Must have Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education or related discipline
  • Must have knowledge of minimum standards, health and safety practices, social and emotional development and classroom management
  • Must be reliable, flexible, positive, patient, warm and enthusiastic about working as part of a team of adults and engaging with families
  • Must have a willingness and interest in pursuing Montessori teaching credential

MakerSpace Instructor

This is a 10-month, part-time position that boasts a salary commensurate with experience.

Teachers who do not have their Montessori certification from AMS or a MACTE-accredited institute will be required to attend a Montessori Philosophy course prior to the start of the school year.

Position Description:

  • Possesses a deep understanding of Design Thinking and provides a safe and open environment for learning, building, and experimenting through a variety of materials, tools, and techniques for making;
  • Communicates and plans with classroom and other special subject teachers to align projects with current coursework;
  • Plans and leads unique opportunities for students, including but not limited to clubs, projects, service opportunities and fundraisers;
  • Possesses foundational knowledge of and ability to teach coding and robotics for children at the Kindergarten through Elementary levels using a variety of materials;
  • Possesses foundational knowledge of and ability to work with children in a wood shop designed for children in pre-kindergarten through 6th grade;
  • Experience in laser cutting and 3D printing and incorporating this technology in meaningful ways to enhance student learning;
  • Keeps the MakerSpace clean, well-stocked, and organized; maintains equipment and tools;
  • Helps with general school duties like dismissal and recreation;
  • Communicates professionally with co-workers and parents;
  • Co-teaches the capstone project for the sixth grade class; and,
  • Chaperone trips as needed and appropriate.

Must be able to:

  • Lift up to 35 pounds;
  • Move and organize classroom tables and chairs, move about the building as needed;
  • Bend, squat, kneel with ease; and,
  • Sit comfortably on the floor with children and on low chairs.

Outdoor Learning Instructor

This is a 10-month, part-time position that boasts a salary commensurate with experience.

Position Description:

  • Must possess a deep understanding of and appreciation for horticultural teaching and learning and provides a safe and inspiring environment for learning, designing, and cultivating the natural surroundings;
  • Communicates and plans with classroom and other special subject teachers to align projects and experiences with current coursework;
  • Plans and leads unique opportunities for students, including but not limited to clubs, projects, service opportunities and fundraisers;
  • Possesses foundational knowledge of and ability to facilitate learning in a robust greenhouse;
  • Helps to maintain the orchard, greenhouse, blueberry patch and nature trail; maintains related equipment and tools;
  • Assists with general school duties like dismissal and recreation;
  • Communicates professionally with co-workers and parents;
  • Works directly with the MakerSpace and Art teachers; and,
  • Chaperone trips as needed and appropriate.

Must be able to:

  • Move and organize classroom tables and chairs, move about the building as needed;

  • Bend, squat, kneel with ease;

  • Sit comfortably on the floor with children and on low chairs; and,

  • Lift up to 35 pounds.
