Seeking Lead Montessori Toddler Teacher

Fishtown Montessori is a caring community situated in a vibrant and accessible neighborhood in Philadelphia offering a beautiful Montessori education to children ages 18 months through six years old. Currently in our seventh year of operations, we added a second location with gorgeous outdoor space which opened in the 2022-2023 school year.

We’re seeking a lead toddler teacher position to guide children in the new building for the remainder of this school year. This guide will work closely with the two other lead toddler guides as well as the Primary lead teachers to implement a program that offers continuity of care throughout the whole school while also giving you the freedom to add offerings that are unique to your personal skill set and your classroom community. This is a ten month, full-time position with possible options for summer work as well.

Teachers in training and/or with Primary level credentials are welcome and encouraged to apply.

The Lead Toddler Teacher responsibilities include:
*Support and create harmonious school and classroom environments by working as a team with all stakeholders
*Establish and maintain a high-quality classroom environment by implementing the Montessori philosophy and pedagogy in a manner aligned with the highest standards of the American Montessori Society
*Conduct effective record-keeping and reporting of children’s progress to administrators and parents in written reports and through conferences three times per year and as needed
*Participate in parent-education efforts by sending a weekly class email/newsletter and working with other teachers to lead parent education nights
*Participate in professional development and community/relationship-building events beyond the school day as outlined on the staff calendar
*Effectively build relationships with assistant teachers and other staff members to maintain and sustain a harmonious school atmosphere
*Guide, train, and direct assistant teachers to support the implementation of an authentic Montessori practice including effective peaceful and loving classroom management methods

Qualifications
Montessori Teaching Credential (Toddler or Primary)from AMS, AMI, or MACTE accredited institution; OR enrolled in a Montessori teacher training coursework from a MACTE accredited institution (practicum students may apply).
Minimum Education: Associates degree with a minimum of 30 credit hours in Early Childhood or related field.
At least two full time years of verifiable experience as a lead teacher in a toddler classroom.
Candidates must have the ability to lift 50 lbs.
