Job Opening for 2023-2024

Middle School English Teacher in Lexington, Massachusetts, US

Lexington Montessori School is seeking an experienced middle school writing and literature teacher to start the 2023-2024 school year. Passion for reading and writing as both a teacher and a (lifelong) learner will serve you well with our small group of 20-25 seventh and eighth graders. You will work closely with our middle school science/history teacher and our middle school math teacher as a three-person team.

Community participation and collaboration are part of everyone’s job at LMS. More specific to this position, responsibilities include: guide, teach and accompany 7th and 8th grade students who choose to prepare for and participate in the Montessori Model United Nations in New York City each winter; work more closely with half the students as advisees and cultivate relationships with their parents; and travel with students in the fall (outdoor education/camping) and spring (Puerto Rico or Spain), in addition to New York for the Model UN.

Montessori training at the secondary level should be in hand or we will work with you to plan for acquiring your Montessori credential in the next few years. Spanish skills are a plus but not required.

LMS boasts a collegial faculty with demonstrated commitment to diversity and Montessori philosophy and pedagogy. Excellent benefits; full-time salary in proportion to experience and credentials.

Applicants should send resumé and three references, together with a statement of teaching philosophy to Maria-Veronica Barnes, Lexington Montessori School, 130 Pleasant Street, Lexington, MA 02421. You may also email at employ@lexmontessori.org.
