Head Teacher/Lead Guide in the primary classroom (ages 3-6) in Kent, Washington, US
Dancing Pines Montessori is a small school serving 65 students ages 3-12. We are located in Kent, WA, tucked away toward the Lake Youngs reserve. We are close enough to the city that we are just a few minutes to Fairwood/Renton, Kent/Covington, and the highways, but far enough to be on a 7 acre property/farm. Our children experience many hours per week of outdoor time, taking nature walks and caring for the environment (goats, chickens, alpacas).
We are looking for a reliable, loving, Montessori certified, head teacher to take over the primary classroom this year. Our wonderful teacher is planning a cross-country move, and we are hoping to fill this position as soon possible so she can mentor our new addition.
This position reports to school from 8am-4pm, with a paid lunchtime (please stay on campus for lunch).
Some responsibilities include:
-Setting up the classroom and practical life area for the students
-planning lessons and themes for the week
-communicating with parents and tracking student data
-supervising children as well as teaching and giving individualized lessons
-working with co-teacher and assistant teacher to delegate tasks and duties to divide and conquer
-participating in cleaning as you go, organizing materials, putting things away, etc.
-participating in recess supervision and drop-off/pick-up lane as needed
-participate in barn duty day (feeding chickens and supervising children in the pasture)
-planning 1 afternoon per week of outdoor school
-planning fun and festive projects for holidays
-planning and running parent teacher conferences for your students
