Executive Director in Elk River, Minnesota

Three Rivers Montessori is a charter school in its second year of operations.

We serve Elk River, Rogers, Zimmerman, Otsego, and the surrounding Minnesota areas. It is an elementary school for students K-6, and parents interested in an authentic Montessori school experience for their children.

The Executive Director administers the Three Rivers Montessori Charter School according to the policies of the Three Rivers Montessori School Board.  The Executive Director is under the direct supervision of the Three River Montessori Charter School Board of Directors.

Objectives include:

  • Educational leadership to staff and pupils

  • Budget management for ongoing yearly growth

  • Planning and evaluation for program effectiveness

  • Daily direction that contributes to a healthy and happy school

  • Coordination of communication between office, staff, parents and Board

  • Responsibilities will focus on Montessori philosophy, curriculum, and educational design

Position Relationships:

  • Reports To: Three Rivers Montessori School Board

  • Coordinates With: Three Rivers Montessori School Board, Teaching Staff and Support Staff

  • Type of Coordination: Planning, Programming, Evaluation, Recruitment and Training

  • Supervises: Montessori Staff, Certified and Classified

  • Office staff and other support services

Required Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Montessori philosophy and curriculum

  • Knowledge of State of Minnesota Charter School Laws

Desired Qualifications:

  • Three years of elementary teaching experience

  • Previous administrative experience at the elementary level

  • Master’s degree in a related field

  • Montessori experience and training

  • Demonstrated commitment to and compatibility with Montessori beliefs and philosophy

  • Experience in multi-age, elementary educational setting

Special Requirements:

  • Leadership ability

  • Ability to make sound decisions

  • Ability to work effectively with others

  • Broad and current knowledge of Montessori curriculum and instruction

  • Ability to work effectively with the Three Rivers Montessori School Board

  • Good communication skills

  • Ability to relate to parents and the general public

Position Responsibilities

  • Academic Oversight

  • Supervises the Montessori program

  • Ensures that appropriate Montessori curriculum is available and implemented

  • Ensures that appropriate Montessori climate is maintained

  • Supervises the inventory and maintenance on all Montessori building equipment

  • Recruits Montessori trained staff and provides ongoing professional development

  • Supervises and evaluates staff

  • Supervises TRM Special Education program

  • Oversees all state testing and student evaluation

Operational Supervision

  • Ensures adherence to charter school laws and regulations

  • Develops and supervises efficient office operations and organizational procedures: i.e. payment of invoices, parent communication, student transportation

  • Develops and monitors budget for approval and acceptance by the Three Rivers Montessori School Board

  • Supervises all data collection needed for charter school reports and TRM year-end reports

  • Ensures that TRM policies and procedures are followed

  • Tracks enrollment and retention data and projects growth for each level

  • Supervises enrollment and exit processes

  • Supervises the admission lottery process

  • Supervises all data collection needed for charter school reports and TRM year-end reports

  • Ensures the maintenance of longitudinal data and records for state and federal reports

  • Serves as contact to Minnesota Charter School Association, MDE, the school’s authorizer and US Department of Education

Board Relations

  • Prepares board agendas together with executive team of the School Board

  • Meets monthly with TRM School Board and at least once monthly with executive team of TRM School Board

  • Assists with the development of policies and contracts for TRM School Board approval

  • Supports Board committees with necessary information for decision-making

  • Assists with the long-range operational and strategic planning for the TRM School Board.

Community relations

  • Oversees the creation of marketing brochures and other promotional materials

  • Oversees the informational sessions and school visits of parents of potential students

  • Oversees the continuous education process of parents and community members regarding Montessori curriculum and philosophy, including open houses, parent/community visits

  • Serves as the face of TRM in the community

  • Establishes community partnerships to bring additional resources and expertise to TRM
