Goldberg Montessori School (GMS), located in Houston, Texas, seeks a professional, forward-thinking, and caring Director of Education to co-lead our remarkable Jewish Montessori preschool. Our early childhood school provides a vibrant Montessori and Judaic experience for 80 students from 18 months through kindergarten, led by 22 dedicated and experienced faculty and staff. It also provides for parent involvement through holiday celebrations, special events, and parenting seminars. Our supportive and organized PTO funds and runs meaningful programs to further elevate the range of services offered at the school and to support our committed staff.

Goldberg Montessori school is proud to be the oldest Jewish Montessori early childhood program in the southwest region of the United States. It combines a rich Judaic studies curriculum with Montessori guidelines and materials developed by Maria Montessori over one hundred years ago. Dr. Montessori believed that “the most important period of life is the first one, the period from birth to age six, for that is the time when man’s intelligence itself, his greatest implement, is being formed.” GMS prides itself on providing a nurturing environment that facilitates learning. Our school’s commitment is to Honor the Path of the Child. Montessori classrooms have six main areas of learning, with Judaic content infused throughout each: Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Math, Geography, and Science.

The Director of Education for Goldberg Montessori School is responsible for overseeing and maintaining the classroom curriculum and student programs and services. You will also be responsible for teacher observation and classroom monitoring.

The Director of Education will co-lead the school with our Director of Administration. The two of you will be responsible for the general health of the school, including fiscal responsibility, school funding, school staffing, record keeping, and long-term strategic planning. Providing professional leadership to staff, supporting our parents, and providing a safe and welcoming environment for all students, families, and professionals.

The school is interested in finding the correct fit for our school. If you are selected as the Director of Education, the school is willing to work with you to train you in either Judaic studies or Montessori education if needed.

Successful candidates will have:
•       Teaching certification with minimum of 3 years teaching experience
•       Excellent communication and relationship building skills
•       Either credentials in Montessori education or a knowledge of Jewish education
•       M. Ed. desired, but not required
