Virtual Conference to Demystify the Montessori Approach

January 6, 2022 by Rachel Kincaid Leave a Comment

An upcoming virtual conference, “Demystifying Montessori,” will offer a deep dive into Dr. Montessori’s educational philosophy, classroom practice, and outcomes. The interactive conference, which will take place March 5 and 6, will feature a public school lens throughout, but is also appropriate for leaders and whole-school staff at private Montessori schools.

Executive Director of Montessori Partnerships for Georgia Annie Fraiser says, “‘Demystifying Montessori’ would be a great fit for school administrators, instructional coaches, district leaders, school board members, and anyone working at the whole-school level or above. Participants will gain knowledge of how best to support teachers in implementing high-fidelity Montessori practice in their classrooms and how to communicate with parents and community members about Montessori philosophy, outcomes and classroom practices.”

Featuring national presenters who are experienced public Montessorians, this conference will take on the big questions about how to bridge the gap between high-fidelity Montessori practice and the requirements of traditional education systems. These are just a few of the presenters who will inspire, challenge and uplift conference attendees:

  • Jacqui Miller currently serves as the Director of Montessori Programming and Operations for the Cleveland Metropolitan School District, advancing Montessori as a transformative pedagogy for urban, low-wealth, Black communities at the system level.
  • Dr. Brooke Culclaure is the Research Director of the Riley Institute at Furman University (Greenville, S.C.), and was the lead researcher on the largest-ever study of public Montessori.
  • Dr. Noris Price was named the 2022 Georgia Superintendent of the Year for her visionary leadership of Baldwin County Schools, a rural school district in central Georgia. Under her leadership, Baldwin County Schools initiated a Montessori program that is growing every year.

The conference is organized by Montessori Partnerships for Georgia, a nonprofit working to expand access to Montessori through a network of public and community-based Montessori schools. To register, visit their web page.
