John Dee, art teacher at Innovation Montessori High School, Ocoee, Florida, tells the Montessori Post,
“I always tell my art students that art can be made from anything. So, when Melissa Pallin, Director of Montessori Development at Innovation, asked for my students to create something special to celebrate Montessori Education Week, I knew exactly what I wanted to do: create a large portrait of Maria Montessori by using rubber stamps to create the different values!
“About 40 of my art students created this artwork with several dozen different stamps. The piece took about 2 weeks to complete. It measures seven feet wide by nine feet tall!
“Personalized photos of the portrait (handwritten by Jasenia Fuller, the same student who drew the quote at the bottom of the portrait) were handed out to parents who attended the Montessori Silent Journey. The event featured presentations by guides from both campuses on a variety of topics such as prepared environments, binomial and trinomial cubes, plus squaring and cubing.”
