2026 Conferences and Events: What to Watch For

The biggest Montessori conferences started in January and go through November.

Still to come in 2026 include:

Association of Illinois Montessori Schools annual conference, held at Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois, February 20-21. This year’s theme is ‘Realizing Our Interdependence’ and is sponsored by Metro Consulting and Cobalt Extensions. Featured speakers include Tom McSheehy, MSW, LSW, of Teaching Heart Institute and Montessori consultant Christine Lowry of Montessori-Now.

Cincinnati Montessori Society annual conference, held February 28 in Covington, Kentucky. Sponsors include Xavier University and Montessori Research & Development, with the keynote by composer David Kisor.

American Montessori Society’s The Montessori Event conference, held in Washington, DC, on March 19-22. Major sponsors include Trinet and Noorana, and keynote speakers include author Lisa Damour and award winning journalist Michelle Norris.

Montessori Europe 2026 Congress, held on March 27-29 in Riga, Latvia.  The theme is ‘The Courage to Trust: Nurturing Peace and Resilience through Montessori Education’ and keynote speaker Julia Manning-Morton will present ‘Trust, Peace and Resilience through Respectful Physical Care Interactions.’

International Montessori Council Leaders and Learners Retreat, held in Catskill, NY on April 17-18. Facilitated by adult educator Tammy Oesting, MEd, adult educator Martha Carver and Head of School Patty Sobelman.

National Center for Montessori in the Public Sector Public Montessori Conference + Retreat, held in Milwaukee, WI on April 17-19. Keynote speakers include Peace Literacy Institute Executive Director Paul Chappell and Educational Architect and Consultant Jacqui Miller. Sponsored by The Center for Guided Montessori Studies, this conference also features an author’s table for new and established writers.

Children Change the World Montessori Conference, held in Calgary, Alberta, Canada on April 17-19. Speakers include Dr. Afra Foroud, Dr. Daniel Jutras, Dr. Lindsey Pollock and more.

South African Montessori Association annual conference, held on April 25-26 in Cape Town. This year’s theme is ‘Flourish–Unfolding Potential: Each Fold a Lesson, Each Child a Hope.’ Speakers include teacher trainer Allan Nguyen and Head of School Kym Van Straaten, among others.

The 30th annual Association Montessori Internationale’s 30th International Montessori Congress, held in Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico on May 1-4. Major sponsors include Nienhuis, Gonzagarredi Montessori and Montessori Sports. Speakers include bestselling author Dr. Gabor Maté and developmental psychology expert Dr. Adele Diamond, PhD., among other notables.

Michigan Montessori Society Spring Gathering, held May 2 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The keynote presentation, ‘A History of Montessori’ will be given by Carol Williams, M.A.

Global Association of Montessori Education and Sport 5th annual Global Montessori Games, held October 11-17 in Krefeld, Germany. Participating schools come from Bolivia, Bulgaria, China, Germany, India, Italy and the Netherlands.

Wisconsin Montessori Association annual conference, held on November 14 in Racine, Wisconsin.
