Montessori Author Rachel Peachey Debuts Newest Title

February 5, 2024 by Rachel Kincaid Leave a Comment

Tell us about your current profession and what drew you to it. I currently work as a freelance writer focusing on topics related to children and education. I was drawn to it because it allows me to be more available for my three kids. I got into freelance writing after my second child was born.

What led you to write your most recent title? I wrote a series of books about Montessori education and parenting a few years ago. My goal was to provide information about Montessori alongside practical activities for parents and caregivers.

Tell us more about the book. The most recent title was Montessori for the Christian Home. Maria Montessori was Catholic. Although she didn’t include religion in her schools or philosophy, she did do some writing about how children might grow their spirituality. Inspired by this, I wrote a book that parents and Sunday school teachers can use to approach religious learning in an engaging, Montessori way. The book includes activities.

What other titles have you published?

Autism, The Montessori Way: A Practical Guide to Help the Child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Learn Using Montessori Inspiration

Montessori at Home Guide: Gentle Parenting Techniques to Help Your 2 to 6-Year-Old Learn Social Skills and Discipline

Tell us about your Montessori background. I completed my Montessori training with NAMC, earning a certification as a lower elementary school guide. Then, I worked at an International Montessori School in Guatemala in both the 3 to 6 and lower elementary classrooms. I taught for four years.

Have you brought Montessori principles into any of your professional or adult life? Yes, I have three children and use Montessori principles as a parent. When my kids were toddlers, I found it especially useful to understand early childhood development through a Montessori lens. I’ve also used the Montessori method to teach my kids to read and have used Montessori math materials as a supplement and support for their school work.

What is next for you/ what projects do you have in the works? I am currently a freelance writer and work for various clients, including Montessori-aligned companies.

How can our readers find out more about you or your work? My professional website is www.rachelpeachey.com
