Martha Urioste is a well-known Colorado pioneer in the field of education. Recognized nationally and internationally for her work in Montessori education, she was the first and only Denver Public School principal to pioneer Montessori education. The model she developed for Montessori education in public schools is recognized and used across the nation. She is the founder of Family Star, a national 0 to 3 Early Head Start Center-based Montessori research model and has also developed a 32-lesson program for public television on Hispanic Culture.
