Sunnybrook Montessori School provides high-quality early childhood education to New Hampshire’s North Country families. Sunnybrook is an independent preschool (ages 3-7) licensed by the State of New Hampshire. For over 30 years, Sunnybrook has been a vibrant community for children and their families. At Sunnybrook Montessori School, children and their families are accorded deep respect. The mission of Sunnybrook Montessori School is to provide a nurturing, respectful, and vibrant learning environment where children are supported to explore and create.

The Associate/Lead Teacher is a guide who helps direct their students’ activities academically, emotionally, and physically in a prepared Montessori environment that challenges each child to reach their full potential in these developmental areas, in accordance with the Sunnybrook Montessori Core Principles. The Associate/Lead Teacher is employed by the Board of Directors of the Sunnybrook Montessori School. Hours are 7:30 am-2:30 pm Tuesday-Friday. The anticipated start date for this position is January 3, 2023.

Responsibilities:
Facilitate Montessori classroom culture
Implement curriculum, learning activities, and “works” for students
Assist children who need individual help to choose work
Uphold and reinforce positive behavior by modeling and drawing attention to ground rules
Unobtrusively monitor the work of individual children
Treat children with unconditional positive regard and provide individualized care for needs
Monitor group activities to maximize healthy socialization, fostering of community and healthy recreation
Work to maintain health and safety standards with snacks, hand-washing and toileting

Qualifications:
Education, Training, and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent
Pass a State of NH Fingerprinting and Background Check
CPR/First Aid certification, or willingness to complete
Child Care Associate or Lead Teacher Qualified in New Hampshire (He-C 4002.35.k, He-C 4002.35.l)
Teaching experience in a public or private educational setting (i.e. public school, child care center, or Montessori school) preferred
Experience or willingness to be trained in: Positive Discipline, Nature Connection, and Montessori Practices.

Qualities and Dispositions:
Excellent communication and organization skills
Ability to collaborate and work in a team environment.
Initiative, curiosity, and ability to “think outside the box”.
An inclusive, holistic, and community-driven attitude and approach to teaching, operating and leading.
Have the physical capacity to work with preschool/Kindergarten aged children (includes but is not limited to: bending, lifting, and working on the floor)
