Elementary Montessori Teacher

 

The Edward J. Samuel Campus at SouthShore Montessori is seeking highly motivated Upper and Lower Elementary Montessori teachers who will be responsible for providing a nurturing, productive learning environment in keeping with the mission and vision of our school.  They will provide leadership in the classroom, collaborate with colleagues, and guide children on a day-to-day basis.  

 

Responsibilities

 

• Plan and deliver engaging Montessori-based lessons
• Collaborate with students to create an individual workplan
• Establish the morning and afternoon work cycle and give lessons as needed
• Implement and update curriculum as student needs dictate 
• Plan, prepare and maintain all materials
• Facilitate a respectful environment for children and adults by encouraging conflict resolution skills and grace and courtesy lessons
• Carefully observe and keep daily records on each student’s individual progression through the classroom
• Effectively communicate with parents regarding students’ progress in the classroom
• Lead a team of classroom teachers
• Coordinate and collaborate with school leadership

 

Skills

 

• Knowledge of Montessori learning and teaching theory – elementary (6-12)
• Able to use a variety of assessment tools and data analysis to drive instruction
• Communicate effectively and collaborate with administration, staff, teachers, and parents
• Able to develop and maintain strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues

 

Education

 

• Montessori Certification from a Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (MACTE) approved program (AMS, AMI, NCME, etc.)
• Bachelor’s Degree
