Lower Elementary teacher in Providence, RI, US
Montessori Children’s House (MCH) is seeking a Lower Elementary teacher for the 2026-27 school year. MCH offers a progressive and comprehensive curriculum built on the philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori to children aged two through twelve in our Toddler through Upper Elementary programs. MCH is located in the beautiful and historical city of Providence, RI, and boasts a diverse community of learners.
Montessori Children’s House is seeking candidates who will embrace the tenets of Montessori Education, including the principles of community, educational excellence, social justice, and equity.
Job Description: Lower Elementary Teacher
Start Date: August 2026
Reports to: Head of School
Main responsibilities include:
Prepare and present engaging lessons using Montessori materials and method
Teach core academic subjects within the Montessori elementary curriculum
Foster inquiry, independence, accountability and respect
Supervise and support students throughout the school day
Maintain a well-prepared, organized, and inspiring environment
Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, development, and classroom experiences
Contribute to a classroom culture based consistently in curiosity, respect and growth
Collaborate closely with fellow faculty and staff to support student success and school initiatives

Founded in 1976, Montessori Children’s House, is an independent school serving over 65 students from toddler through 6th grade. Located in the historic capital of Rhode Island, MCH is nestled in a quiet residential neighborhood yet within walking distance of the nature such as the Seekonk River and institutions such as Brown University and RISD, all of which provide fascinating opportunities for collaboration. We are a member school of the American Montessori Society (AMS). We offer ongoing professional development opportunities for all of our staff, such as annual membership as well as attendance to the AMS conference.

Requirements:
AMS, AMI or MACTE Elementary credential (required)
Bachelor’s degree in education or related field (required)
Strong communication skills & desire to be part of a team
Experience working with children ages 6-12
