Montessori Assistant Teacher (infant/toddler) in Appleton, WI, US
Fox Valley Montessori Academy is seeking a caring, reliable, and enthusiastic Montessori Assistant Teacher to join our learning community in Appleton, Wisconsin. We are looking for someone who enjoys working with young children and wants to be part of a supportive environment that values curiosity, independence, and respect for each child.
This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who is passionate about early childhood education and interested in learning more about the Montessori approach.
About the Role:
The Montessori Assistant Teacher supports the Lead Teacher in a nurturing classroom environment serving infants and toddlers from birth through age 3. During this important stage of development, the assistant helps create a calm, responsive, and safe environment where young children can explore, build trust, and develop independence at their own pace.
The Assistant Teacher helps maintain a peaceful and organized environment, supports daily care routines such as feeding, diapering, and transitions, and engages with children through language, movement, and exploration.
Fox Valley Montessori Academy operates as a private school with a traditional school-year calendar, along with a separate summer camp program.
We are also committed to supporting staff growth. Additional on-site training will be provided, and there may be opportunities for Montessori certification or further professional development for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the Lead Teacher in maintaining a calm and prepared Montessori environment
Assist with daily care routines including feeding, diapering, and transitions
Engage positively with infants and toddlers through language, movement, and play
Help maintain organization and care of classroom materials and spaces
Support a respectful, nurturing classroom atmosphere
Collaborate with teaching staff to ensure children’s needs are met throughout the day
Qualifications:
Experience working with young children (school, childcare, nannying, or similar setting)
Associate’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education preferred but not required
Montessori Assistant certification is a plus, but not required
Warm, patient, and nurturing approach with children
Dependable, organized, and eager to learn
Interest in Montessori education and child development
