Montessori Teacher in Sunnyvale, California, US

We are seeking reliable, flexible, and innovative teachers who have a passion and love for working with children ages 3 years to 5 years old.
Ideal candidates are enthusiastic, communicate effectively, and have infinite patience and a calm-centered personality. You must demonstrate good judgment in the care of small children and encourage social and emotional development by using positive discipline strategies.  Teachers working with this age group provide a safe environment that encourages initiative, independence, and self-reliance while communicating positively with children, other staff members, and parents.

Job description:
1.      Conduct instructional research and analysis on learners and contexts and define objectives for a course and/or curriculum.
2.      Select, modify, or create a design and development model appropriate for each given subject and develop instructional materials accordingly.
3.      Work with subject matter experts and other personnel to collect feedback and integrate it into the next course draft.
4.      Design quizzes and meaningful course interactions to increase learning and retention.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
•       Provide a safe, clean, inviting, and stimulating environment where all children feel safe and valued, and inspires creativity and discovery
•       Guide unique and creative lessons to support a Montessori curriculum
•       Observing, guiding, supervising, and assessing children as they learn in the Montessori environment
•       Clean and sanitize rooms, and materials used by children
•       Work together with other teachers to implement lesson plans based on specific age group development
•       Provides educational and recreational activities for growth and development
•       Supervise children with safety as the highest priority
•       Models expected classroom behaviors, instilling good values like honesty, accountability, understanding, tolerance, respect, love, and kindness
•       Ensuring that classroom supplies and materials are available and in working condition
•       Is culturally sensitive and knowledgeable
•       Is an excellent observer
•       Must be able to develop positive relationships with a variety of people including students, parents, teachers, and administrators
•       Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with children, parents, and the support staff to provide exceptional care for the well-being and nurturing of the whole child
•       Demonstrate kindness and respect, and instill security
•       Ability to multitask, keep calm under pressure, and treat everyone with courtesy and respect.

•       The ability to teach groups of children of varying ages, needs, and abilities
•       Excellent planning and organizational skills

Requirements:
•       Must be able to pass a background check
•       Must pass a TB/Health Screening
•       Must have at least 12 semester units in Early Childhood Education
•       Montessori Certification
•       Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related discipline is recommended
•       Must complete 15 hours of health and safety training.
•       Must obtain and maintain CPR certification within one year of hire
•       Must be able to lift and carry small children, bend, squat, kneel, sit, and stand throughout the day, to be at the child’s eye level when interacting
•       Must be authorized to work in the United States
•       Must have strong written and oral communication skills in English, interpersonal skills, and a willingness to learn

Salary: $58864 per year.

Special qualifications:  Bachelor in any degree, or foreign equivalent, plus 12 months of experience in education. Must have Early Child Credential from AMS or AMI or IMC.
